Children of God

Logline: See the last remaining sibling’s emotional journey that shaped his 87-year life.
Tagline: 100 years in the making, 11 months to complete, 13 minutes to watch.
Takeaway: Rest for the weary.

‘Children of God’ was born out of inspiration from a photo that Uncle Ray sent me in late 2019 (see image below). The more I looked and studied the photo the more I fell in love with it, especially my father as a little boy who I looked like when we were the same age of four. The apple falls not far from the tree. In fact, Dad’s 86-year-old smile is still quite infectious.

Anyway, 2019-2021 was filled with sadness for Dad. He lost three siblings in the span of 14 months. The latest death of his older sister Virginia (standing behind Dad) means my father is now the only surviving child born of his parents Lester and Emma Terry (married 1922). In other words, Dad is the last remaining sibling. Think of the heavenly family reunion which awaits Dad.

So the question that went around my brain was “God, what can I do to celebrate this beautiful wonderful photo that was taken in 1940?”. Well, the Holy Spirit told me to write a screenplay. After all, I am a screenwriter. So in a matter of days, I wrote ‘Children of God’ which eventually led to me finding an animation company called Brainy Pixel Productions. Thankfully the lead animator and producer of Brainy Pixel (and now good friend) Michael Thoenes is a follower of Jesus Christ. Through our prayers Michael helped me bring the screenplay to fruition and into an animated short story.

Although ‘Children of God’ is written and gifted to my father John Alan Terry, the animation belongs to God the Father to do as He wishes. I fervently pray that all who view ‘Children of God’ will find the comfort, healing, and amazing love that only Jesus can provide.

All for the King.

  1. The animation was great! Wonderful but heartbreaking video all inspired by a photograph. Made me teared up, tbh
